Feathers

Feathers
The rich and intense shifting colors of macaw and parrot feathers captivated me on a trip to a bird sanctuary in Central America a few years ago, and since then I have yet to find a feather that didn’t inspire me. From colors that travel like a flame across a single feather to.
a single vivid green one that glows red on the back side, each feather is amazing in it’s own way. Also represented are the quirky graphic dots of guinea hen feathers, naturally ranging from a bold ‘50’s polka dot to finely complex patterns in black and white.
Feathers are extremely difficult to work with when they’re cut, and I never know how each piece will turn out. They do their own thing as I carefully work them between glass, and I do my best with the tricky but stunning results by complementing with carefully chosen beadwork. Needless to say each is one-of-a-kind.
